Starry nights in Coffin Bay

We spent a few days over Christmas this year at Coffin Bay National Park and it was a beautiful clear night with no moon, so I thought I would have a try at shooting the stars.

  1. Wow! How did you do that?

Hi there, I took these shots on nights with no moon so you can see more stars, you have to put your camera on a tripod and then focus the lens manually to infinity, then set your camera to 15-30 second exposure depending on your lens, then set your aperture as low as it can go. Mine was f3.5, then set your ISO to 2000-3000. It is better to set your camera to timer mode so that you have a few seconds from when you press the button to when the exposure starts. This will eliminate any camera shake from pressing the button. You can then check the shot on your screen and adjust as required.
      Thanks for visiting.
